It takes the collaboration of many engineers, contractors, and specialist partners to keep airports running smoothly, and every detail matters.

Back in 2022, KITE Projects had the privilege of being part of that story at Heathrow Terminal 5, one of the busiest and most celebrated airport terminals in the world.

Terminal 5 welcomes around 90,000 travellers every day, so even the smallest elements beneath your feet must be safe, resilient and keep in line with the terminal’s distinctive look and feel.

Our team collaborated with Tier 1 and installation contractors to engineer and supply 530 purpose-designed pit covers for the plaza; replacing worn covers, removing trip hazards, and enhancing both safety and the overall look and feel of the space.

Designed to blend aesthetics with performance, our KITE Kover systems withstand heavy emergency-vehicle loading, resist de-icing products and deliver reliable access to the services below.

This project highlights the importance of making the passenger journey safer, smoother, and more welcoming, from the moment they step off the plane, to the moment they reach their destination.
