Did you know that the handrails inside London Underground trains aren’t just chosen at random? They’re actually colour-coded to match the line you’re travelling on.

Step onto the Piccadilly line and you’ll see deep blue handrails, while the Central line greets you with striking red. It’s a subtle design detail that many commuters overlook, but it’s part of Transport for London’s clever way of blending practicality with identity - turning each Tube line into its own distinctive little world.

It’s a smart example of how design can shape the way we experience everyday spaces. A simple splash of colour helps each line stand out, makes the journey more intuitive, and gives the Tube its distinctive character.

At KITE Projects, we apply the same principle to our work. Within our powder coating service, we can finish handrails in any colour pantone to meet your project’s environmental or aesthetic requirements. This approach was showcased in our Shoreham project, where we sourced specific components and used powder coating to bring the architect’s design vision to life.

Whether it’s a bold shade that makes a statement; a natural tone that blends into the landscape, or a design that reflects a brand identity, our handrails combine durability with detail - ensuring they’re as practical as they are visually pleasing.
