Our approach to ‘Collaborative Engineering’ has the problem at the centre. With the desire to maintain clear
water flow, an unintended consequence is that debris will gather. The KITE Flow solution creates a screen that delivers the desired outcome of flowing water. This is a challenge facing numerous water management systems, so it is essential that the solution can be integrated with the watercourse, culvert or coastal environment.
We adapted our system as a screen to ensure the unintended became intended! And, where many Natural Flood Management projects are small scale, low impact and low-cost interventions are required and where bespoke responses are difficult to justify to funders.
KITE Projects has been involved in a number of flood risk reduction projects on the fringes of this environmental approach, where our modular applications have been used to support ‘upstream’ interventions, where access is difficult, site resources are scarce and where a skilled labour force is not required for effective installation.
